The ongoing shortage of bus drivers is being blamed for a decision to axe 75 journeys every week on the no. 73 route through Bradley Stoke. Bus operator First West of England says the radical step, announced on Wednesday 16th November and effective immediately, is intended to help it deliver a “more reliable service” for customers.

A number of bus services that run through the Stokes will see timetable and/or route changes from Sunday 9th October. Route changes are being made on the T1 and Y6 services, while timetable changes apply to the 19, 73, T1 and Y6 services. Meanwhile, across the wider Bristol and South Gloucestershire area, a number of services are being withdrawn.

Cheaper bus fares have come into force on most local services from today (Sunday 25th September) thanks to the introduction of a subsidy package from the West of England Combined Authority (Weca). The changes have seen the price of a First Bus return (2-trip) ticket from Bradley Stoke to Bristol city centre slashed to £3.50, down from £4.30 previously.

The M1 MetroBus service, which links Bradley Stoke with Cribbs Causeway, Bristol city centre and south Bristol is to be temporarily suspended this weekend (3rd/4th September) to allow an orderly transition to a new operator. Some late evening journeys on Friday 2nd September may also be impacted. The service will resume from Monday 5th September, running to a slightly revised timetable.

Ticketless ‘Tap On, Tap Off’ (Toto) fare payment is now available on all MetroBus and First Bus services in the West of England. Using Toto, passengers simply tap their credit/debit card or payment-enabled smartphone device against the reader when they get on the bus and again just before they get off.

A reduction in the operating frequency of the M1 MetroBus service is one of a number of changes being introduced by First West of England from Sunday 24th April 2022. From the same date, the current additional Monday to Friday off-peak ‘short journeys’ between Bristol city centre and Bristol Parkway Station will be withdrawn.

Bradley Stoke’s 73 bus will no longer serve Baileys Court Road and Webbs Wood Road from Sunday 30th January 2022, operator First West of England has announced. Instead of making a loop through the south-east corner of the town, the 73 buses will now traverse the full length of Brook Way…

Local bus operator First West of England has announced a number of adjustments to its services with effect from Sunday 29th August 2021. Sunday and public holiday frequency on the T1 service will be reduced from ‘every 30 minutes’ to ‘every 60 minutes’. There are also changes affecting services 12, 18, 19, 73, 963, M1 and T1s.
