A field of 498 competitors took part in this year’s Bradley Stoke 10k Run held on Sunday 11th June as part of the annual Community Festival. Victory in the men’s race went to Bradley Cox, in a time of 35:49, just three seconds ahead of Alex Hamblin (35:52). The winner of the women’s race was Caroline McAleese in a time of 39:30, ahead of local youngster Freya Bradley (40:07).

Bradley Stoke’s 73 bus service, which has had its route truncated twice over the last 18 months, is to have a small part of its former route reinstated from September 2023, subject to regulatory approval. Operator First West of England is proposing to slightly extend the 73’s route so that it once again serves the full length of Woodlands Lane – but only at off-peak times.

A formal planning application has now been submitted for a proposed development of 57 one- and two-bedroom apartments on land at the southern end of Bradley Stoke Way. Woodstock Homes, a privately owned developer based in the South West, wants to build two 4-storey apartment blocks on a triangular-shaped area of “low quality grassland” opposite the junction with The Worthys.

Cllr Dayley Lawrence (Labour) has been elected as the new mayor of Bradley Stoke. He was formally handed the chain of office on Wednesday 17th May at Bradley Stoke Town Council’s annual meeting. It is believed that Cllr Lawrence is the first Labour Party affiliated chair or mayor since the council was formed 30 years ago.

Planning officers at South Glos Council have refused permission for a 15m-high 5G mobile phone mast to be installed on the corner of Baileys Court Road and Webbs Wood Road (opposite Baileys Court Inn). The decision, made under delegated powers, is the fourth straight refusal in a series of similar applications for sites within Bradley Stoke that have been made by or on behalf of Three.

A popular car boot sale that takes place near Bradley Stoke will reopen for the 2023 season this coming Sunday (21st May), organisers have told the Journal. The weekly Trench Lane Boot Sale usually runs until the end of October. Fields at the site have been mown this week in preparation for Sunday’s reopening.

Revised proposals for a weekly parkrun in Bradley Stoke’s Three Brooks Local Nature Reserve are to be discussed at the town council’s Annual Meeting on Wednesday (17th May). The parkrun volunteer group has submitted its formal application to South Glos Council, albeit with an updated run route compared to the one that was presented to town councillors in March.
