South Gloucestershire Council has postponed a planned four-week closure of Stoke Lane that was due to start today (Monday 8th August). The road closure, which was announced barely a week ago, on Thursday 28th July, is needed to install additional traffic calming measures that include a new speed table and two new sets of speed cushions.

A Bradley Stoke town councillor has resigned from the Conservative Party in response to what he describes as “bullying and targeting” of council officers by fellow councillors within the majority Conservative group. The Journal understands that the councillor initially submitted a letter of outright resignation, but was persuaded to stay on as an independent.

Customers and staff were evacuated from Bradley Stoke Leisure Centre yesterday (Monday 27th June) after the premises were affected by a fire that started in bushes outside the building.
