South Gloucestershire Council (SGC) is the admissions authority for all community and controlled primary and secondary schools in the area.
Coordinated admissions scheme
All local authorities are required, by law, to have in place a scheme each year for coordinating admission arrangements for maintained schools in their area. Co-ordination schemes ensure, as far as is reasonably practicable, that every parent of a child receives one offer of a school place. It is for each authority to decide the scheme that best suits its residents and its schools.
The scheme that applies to all schools in South Gloucestershire was determined by the Cabinet member for Education, Skills, Employment and Business in February 2023. Details of the timetable of the admissions process are included in the schemes. The timetables differ for primary and secondary school admissions.
