There are plently of opportunities to visit interesting properties in Bristol and South Gloucestershire this weekend – and it won’t cost you a penny.
Heritage Open Days celebrate England’s fantastic architecture and culture by offering free access to properties that are usually closed to the public or normally charge for admission.
Some 26 properties in South Gloucestershire are opening their doors this weekend, including the Tower House in Almondsbury (on the A38 Gloucester Road), St Michael’s Church, Salem Methodist Church and the Medieval Barn in Winterbourne and the Unitarian Church, Quaker Meeting House and Village Museum in Frenchay.
Bristol Doors Open Day, now in its 17th year, takes place on Saturday with 58 significant contemporary and historic buildings open to the public.

There’s a free bike decorating workshop at Bradley Stoke Library on Saturday and the sporting theme continues on Sunday, with a cycle ride to Tockington (organised by the Stokes Cycling Club) and a ‘Come and Try It’ orienteering event in the Three Brooks Local Nature Reserve (organised by Bristol Orienteering Klub).
