Police seek community help to combat speeding

Police in Bradley Stoke have once again appealed for residents to volunteer to take part in a Community Speed Watch scheme.

The move follows the recent decision of the Bradley Stoke Safer and Stronger Community Group to once again designate “speeding in the Woodlands Lane area” to be a priority issue.

The police say they need at least six people to volunteer for a Speed Watch scheme but to date not enough people have come forward.

Anyone wishing to assist is asked to contact the Bradley Stoke Neighbourhood Policing team.

Checks carried out by police officers in Woodlands Lane during two weeks in May 2009 resulted in 30 drivers being prosecuted for speeding offences and a further ten being sent on speed awareness courses.
