Get involved in your local community

South Gloucestershire Council is encouraging people who want to get involved in their local community and help get things done to join a network of Safer Stronger Community Organisers.

Cllr Heather Goddard, executive member for communities, said:

“There are many benefits to signing up, ranging from improving your skills and knowledge to get on at work and in life, to making real changes happen in your local community by putting forward your ideas and influencing local decision making.”

“South Gloucestershire’s local campaign complements the Coalition Government’s Big Society agenda, which encourages more people to get involved in community life.”

“You can register your interest at www.mybettercommunity.com whatever your age, but we are particularly interested in hearing from you if you are aged 18-35, as this age group isn’t represented enough and we want your voice to be heard.”

The campaign is being funded externally from the Targeted Support for Empowerment Fund, which is provided by the Department of Communities and Local Government through the Community Development Foundation and Creating Excellence.
