Overnight closures of Bradley Stoke Way (eastbound) for five nights this week

Sign advertising planned overnight and weekend closures of Bradley Stoke Way during January 2017. The road closures are associated with construction of the North Fringe to Hengrove Package MetroBus route.

MetroBus contractors Alun Griffiths have confirmed that overnight closures of Bradley Stoke Way for final resurfacing will continue from Monday to Friday this week (6th to 10th February), between the hours of 8pm and 5am.

The closures this week will be eastbound-only, covering either the full section between the Aztec West Roundabout and Patchway Brook Roundabout (near Aldi) or the shorter section between the Woodlands Lane junction and Patchway Brook Roundabout.

Signed diversions will be in place. The westbound carriageway will remain open at all times.

A Griffiths spokesperson said:

“We are planning three night time closures of the entire eastbound carriageway from Aztec West to Patchway Brook during the first three nights (Monday to Wednesday) of this week, each from 8pm until 5am or sooner. The remainder of the week will include eastbound closures from Woodlands Lane to Patchway Brook for the final wearing surface.”

“As always, the surfacing work is weather dependant and a judgement will need to be made daily.”

“Access will be maintained for residents to Orchard Gate through the works as necessary.”

“We again thank the residents and businesses for their continued patience, particularly those in close proximity to the surfacing works and apologise for the disturbance whilst we conclude our works in this area.”

  1. Update from MetroBus contractors Alun Griffiths:

“Last night (Monday) we surface planed and laid the binding course between Aztec West and Woodland Lane and some distance into Woodlands lane. Tonight (Tuesday 7th February) the Eastbound carriageway from Aztec West to Patchway Brook will be closed to lay the wearing surface from 8pm until 5am or sooner. During the first three nights this week, Monday to Wednesday, work will focus between Aztec West and Woodland Lane junction, therefore the entire Eastbound carriageway will be closed each night. Diversions will apply during these times. The Westbound carriageway will remain open at all times.”

“Last night (Tuesday) we began laying the final wearing course between Aztec West and Woodland Lane and some distance into Woodlands lane. Tonight (Wednesday 8th February) the Eastbound carriageway from Aztec West to Patchway Brook will be closed to continue to lay the wearing surface from 8pm until 5am or sooner. During the first three nights this week, Monday to Wednesday, work will focus between Aztec West and Woodland Lane junction, therefore the entire Eastbound carriageway will be closed each night. 3. Update from MetroBus contractors Alun Griffiths:

“Last night (Wednesday) we completed laying the final wearing course between Aztec West and Woodland Lane and have white lined this area. Thursday and Friday night the Eastbound carriageway from Aztec West to Woodland Lane will be OPEN. HOWEVER, the Eastbound carriageway from Woodland Lane to Patchway Brook roundabout will be closed to continue to lay the wearing surface and lining from 8pm until 5am or sooner. Diversions will apply during these times via Pear Tree Road to Patchway Brook. The Westbound carriageway will remain open at all times.”

“The left turn from Woodlands Lane onto Bradley Stoke Way will of course be closed whilst night time surfacing is completed in this area.”

“Traffic will still not be able to turn right from Woodland Lane towards Aztec West until the traffic lights are commissioned and fully functioning.”

“Access will be maintained for residents to Orchard Gate through the works as necessary.”

“As much of the surfacing work is weather dependant decisions are influenced daily so we will update further if necessary. Temperatures could freeze towards the weekend which could affect the laying of the final weather surface. We again thank the residents and businesses for their continued patience, particularly those in close proximity to the surfacing works and apologise for the disturbance whilst we conclude our works in this area.”

“Once this section of Bradley Stoke way is completed it is our intention to complete the remaining section of surfacing immediately East of the Patchway Brook roundabout. This is approximately a 40 meter stretch. We shall be completing this at night next week over two nights using 5 way temporary traffic lights to prevent a complete road closure by completing one lane one night and the other the next. Again due to the work being weather dependant we shall have to call this after the weekend but hopefully will be Monday and Tuesday night.”
