We had two days of extremely well-attended activities with young people again actively contributing to the planning, promotion and voluntary staffing of activities over the Bradley Stoke Community Festival weekend.
On the Saturday, we brought a skate half-pipe to the main festival site with ‘have a go’ sessions and pro-rider demos. Alongside, we had street art workshops with over 50 young people leaving with their own art works or having contributed to larger collective pieces of art. In addition, we spent much time discussing and promoting other projects with young people and parents/carers.
On the Sunday, the half-pipe moved to the new skate park site to provide additional capacity alongside more pro-rider demos, skate competitions, circus skills workshops, all with a musical backdrop provided by young people with equipment loaned by BSR. Significant funding for the two days was secured through a community grant and support in kind again from local skate park businesses.
