Specsavers to host festive charity event

Above and Beyond.

A Bradley Stoke opticians is getting into the festive spirit of giving this weekend (6th/7th December) as it hosts a fundraising event for a local hospital charity.

Specsavers, based in The Willow Brook Centre, is offering customers an array of Christmas-themed games and treats to raise funds for Above & Beyond, a cause which supports patients in nine hospitals across Bristol.

Anyone who visits the store will be greeted by staff in Christmas-themed fancy dress, smells of warm mulled wine (non-alcoholic) and spiced apple drinks, as well as an opportunity to bag some goodies by taking part in a lucky dip or a game of ‘guess the bear’s name’ – all in return for donations. There will also be a face painter on hand from 11am-1pm on Saturday (6th December) to turn younger customers into their favourite Christmas characters.

Bradley Stoke store director Ed Stanleigh said:

“We’ve got some really fun activities planned over the course of the two days.”

“We’ve supported Above and Beyond for some time now, but there’s still so much to do to ensure they can continue their great work. By hosting this event, we are hoping to raise much needed funds while spreading Christmas cheer to our customers”

“As co-sponsor of Road Safety Week (held 17th-23rd November), we’ll also be handing out high visibility vests to all children that visit the store over the weekend, helping raise awareness of the importance of safety during the winter months.”

Above and Beyond helps more than 500,000 patients cared for in Bristol’s nine city centre hospitals each year, as well as the millions of friends and family who visit them, and the 8,000 dedicated NHS staff who care for them.
