Young people to create ‘dream’ garden for Willow Brook Centre

Twenty budding young gardeners have volunteered to create a community garden at Bradley Stoke’s Willow Brook Centre during the Easter holidays.

The shopping centre is hosting the planting day on Friday (11th April) as part of its involvement in Dreamscheme, an initiative that encourages local young people to do something positive for the community.

The volunteers will be rewarded for getting involved in making their area a better place with tickets for an outing, donated by Willow Brook Centre.

The garden area has been designed by Willow Brook’s landscaping contractor Urban Planters, which has given its time for free. The youngsters will get the chance to work alongside the professionals and learn a bit more about gardening when they help out with the planting.

Andy Wynn, manager of the Willow Brook Centre, who is planning to roll his sleeves up and join in on the day, said:

“This is a brilliant initiative that encourages young people to get involved in fun projects that really have a positive impact on the local area.”

The garden project will take place at the Willow Brook Centre from 10am and is open to young people aged between 8 and 16 years. To get involved call 01454 858670/1 or email dreamscheme@southernbrooks.org.uk.
