Peplow hat-trick bags three points for BSTFC

Bradley Stoke Town FC's Sam Peplow scores a hat-trick against St Pancras.

A returning Sam Peplow scored three goals for Bradley Stoke Town FC (BSTFC’s) First Team as they grabbed a last minute winner against St Pancras on Saturday afternoon.

In a close game, Bradley Stoke found themselves 2-1 down at half time after Dan Hedges and Joel Wallis had scored for the away side, with Peplow grabbing a consolation goal for BSTFC.

In the second half, after some crowd trouble, Bradley Stoke were able to draw level with a powerful Peplow shot that nestled into the bottom corner.

This increased the intensity of the game and the Hornets were looking for a winner. It was found in the dying minutes of the game when debutant Joe Love, who was solid all game, put through an experienced Peplow to slot the ball under the away keeper, bagging all three points for Bradley Stoke.

The A Team progressed in the cup on penalties after drawing their game 2-2.

The B Team sadly exited the cup on the weekend as they lost 2-0 to a tough Yate side who bullied them off the park, despite dominating and making chances in a solid first half performance.

Sunday morning at Patchway saw an extremely positive performance from the under-11s as they beat Dearswood 3-0 in the cup. Some excellent striking of the ball saw them fight off the wind in the horrible conditions.

Come half time the Bradley Stoke team found themselves two goals to the good, thanks to two goals from Luke Hulbert – one a good finish from inside of the box and the next a wind-affected goal from wide on the right hand side. An excellent save from the Dearswood keeper denied Tom Betts.

In the second half, Bradley Stoke were playing against the wind but still managed to get the ball into the back of the net. Josh Harding put the side three up with an excellent strike into the bottom corner that started with some exceptional passing at the back of the defence that progressed down the right hand side before the spectacular finish.

The team manager’s verdict: “A good performance from the side, considering the conditions.”

Running: Sole Sisters RC
Karen Gaman of Sole Sisters writes:

Huge congratulations to the seven Sole Sisters who completed the televised Great South Run from Southsea to Portsmouth on Sunday (27th October). They all did exceptionally well, even in the adverse weather conditions with 50+mph winds.

Also, well done to another Sole Sister, Andrea Glenn, who completed the Dartmoor Marathon at the weekend.
