The Willow Brook Centre in Bradley Stoke has won the national Shopping Centre SCEPTRE Award for Waste Management.
The winners of the 2013 SCEPTRE Awards were announced at a gala dinner on Tuesday 26th June at The Dorchester Hotel in London. The Waste Management category is highly coveted and the Willow Brook Centre was up against some of the largest shopping centres in the country.
Manager Scott Lahive said:
“It was a fantastic moment when we were announced the winner on Tuesday. We have worked very hard to achieve zero to landfill over the past 18 months, and the entire team has been fantastic. I am so proud of them and of everything we have achieved. This award is a great acknowledgement.”
The Willow Brook Centre has also been awarded a highly regarded Silver Zero Waste Award.
The awards have been established by letsrecycle.com, the news and information portal for the recycling and waste management sector, businesses and local government. They are partnered by SAICA, the multinational paper and packaging manufacturer and Wastecare, the national waste management experts.
The Willow Brook Centre has been recognised for its exceptional improvement in waste and recycling since 2011.
Mr Lahive added:
“We are very proud to have received a Zero Waste Award. This recognises what can be achieved when an entire organisation rethinks its waste management policies and declares war on waste. We are extremely proud of our achievements and intend to continue to invest in waste management.”
