2013 Community Festival gets under way today

Bradley Stoke Community Festival Picnic in the Park.

The 2013 Bradley Stoke Community Festival gets under way at 9.30am today (Friday 7th) with children’s entertainment at the Jubilee Centre in Savages Wood Road.

Professor Panic presents his range of circus skills in the Big Top, alongside Steve the Bubbleman and a bouncy castle. Refreshments will be served alongside a range of local craft and community stalls. The Friends of Jubilee Green will be running a family Treasure Trail during the morning.

Saturday (8th June) sees a packed programme of music and dance events at the Jubilee Centre playing fields, with the action starting at 11.30am and running through to 6pm.

Musical entertainment on Saturday begins with the BSCS Acoustic Soloists at 11.30am – followed by Gecko Blaster, Goodnight Lois, Astral Toasters, Resplendence, Obsidian and Jonny Casino.

Dance and gymnastic groups performing in between the bands this year include Bradley Stoke Gym Club, South Gloucestershire Asian Association, Lula Garland’s Dance School, Kathryn’s Dance Academy, Acro Gymnasts, South Gloucestershire Chinese Association and Infinity.

Fun rides for the children include trampolines, inflatables, football games, activities, longbow archery, mini quads and the Vertical Xtreme climbing wall.

Sunday (9th June) kicks off with the Bradley Stoke 10k Run at 9.30am (from the Jubilee Centre), followed by a series of events at Baileys Court Activity Centre – including the first staging of the Bradley Stoke Bed Race at 1pm.

Organisers Sole Sisters RC report that the 10k Run is “well and truly full” with all 600 places taken.
