Around 1,500 properties in central and south Bradley Stoke were without electricity for up to 90 minutes this morning following an unexplained incident at 9.58am.
A spokesperson for Western Power Distribution told The Journal that 1,488 properties were initially affected but this number had dropped to 460 by around 10.20am.
Recorded information on a WPD telephone hotline initially gave an estimate that power would be restored to all consumers by 1pm, but the spokesperson said it was hoped to achieve this by 11.30am.
Investigations are now being carried out to determine the cause of the outage.
Comments left on The Journal’s Facebook page suggest the area affected included: Juniper Way, Marjoram Place, The Bluebells, Hawkins Crescent, Snowberry Close and Hornbeam Close.
Businesses at the Willow Brook Centre were also affected, with one estate agent reporting on Twitter that “intermittent power cuts are confusing the phone system a bit”.
