European Cup success for Bradley Stoke Judo Club pair

Bradley Stoke Judo Club have had some recent success as a couple of their players have recently travelled to Portugal to compete in the European Cup.

This was a very successful competition for them, as both of the players that went to the event came back with medals. Five times British champion Pete Miles came home with a silver medal; the other competitor, Lele Nairne, also medalled and came home with a bronze.

After the Portugal performance they headed off to the Czech Republic where the competitors also showed a strong performance before heading to the next competition abroad in Lithuania, where they will travel on Friday, to compete in the Junior Cup in the age above (Under 21) to get a feel of the competition for when they move up an age group in the near future.

Cricket: Bradley Stoke Cricket Club

On Sunday afternoon, Bradley Stoke First XI played in a friendly match as a warm up to their debut in the senior division which they start on Saturday 4th May.

They chose to bat first and had a positive innings where the highest scorer was Dan Peachey, the captain, but other scores were shared throughout the order. They reached a total of 231 letting the away team chase the total over 40 overs. Things went similarly in the second innings, where wickets were fairly evenly shared around with positive bowling from George Coles, who took three wickets from his effective spin bowling.

Football: Bradley Stoke Town FC

As the weather has cheered up in Bristol, all four adult teams of Bradley Stoke Town got a game in the weekend.

Here are the results:

  • BSTFC Firsts 7 – 1 Miners (Shad Esimeng (4), Nathan Corney, Lukas Entoundi and Jon Welsh)
  • BSTFC A team 1 – 1 Mendip (Joe Ashton)
  • BSTFC Reserves 0 – 3 Made For Ever Reserves
  • BSTFC B Team 1 – 2 Wessex Wanderers (Mike Tait)

Running: Sole Sisters North Bristol Running Club

Two weekends of marathon running

Six Sole Sisters completed the London Marathon last weekend. A massive well done to: Penny Greenwood, Liz Naude, Kate Stuart, Andrea Glen, Mary Mainwaring, and Nicole Canty who all did extremely well, some achieving a personal best.

This weekend saw four Sisters complete the Manchester Marathon. Fantastic achievement and well done Maggie Gibbs, Lisa Nicholls, Ruth Finch and Emma Stock, who also achieved some personal best times.

Next beginners’ course starting

Our next six-week beginners’ running course starts on the 13th May, with registration at 6.45pm, Baileys Court Activity Centre, The Pavilion, Baileys Court Road, Bradley Stoke, Bristol BS32 8BH.
