Temporary closure of Little Stoke tip
The Sort It! civic amenity site in Station Road, Little Stoke, is to be closed for two weeks in February to allow essential maintenance work to be carried out. The site will be closed from Monday 4th February to Sunday 17th February inclusive, during which time work will undertaken to improve facilities and maintain a safe environment for residents and staff. Tea and cakes at Bradley Stoke Community School
In the library at Bradley Stoke Community School, students swapped books and studying for tea and cup-cakes, all in aid of St Peter’s Hospice. Staff and students spent their break time eating cake and donating their pennies; they raised a fantastic £512! Read more …
Pupils learn Polish at Bowsland Green Primary School
Polish is the ‘language of the month’ for children at Bowsland Green Primary School during January. Polish words were introduced to the school by Polish speaking children and a member of staff. About 5 – 10 minutes a week will be spent in class during the month of January playing some simple games to learn basic vocabulary.
New patchwork and quilting group in Bradley Stoke

New footbridge successfully installed over M5
A new Pegwell brake footbridge has been installed over the M5 motorway near Patchway replacing the old concrete bridge, which was dismantled at the end of last year. The new steel pedestrian bridge, located between junctions 16 and 17 of the motorway, is suitable for high-sided vehicles to pass under when the M4/M5 Managed Motorways Scheme is fully operational and the hard shoulder is used as a traffic lane. Courses starting soon in Patchway
Southern Brooks Community Partnership is running a number of course under the themes ‘healthy living’, skills for work’ and ‘family and parenting’, with start dates in January and February. The courses are free to those who have less than a Level 2 qualification. For those exempt from the course fee, a £10 deposit is payable at the start of the course which will be repaid at the end on meeting an attendance of 80%. Read more in the Patchway Journal …
