On Sunday morning the Bradley Stoke Youth FC (BSYFC) Under-11 Girls Whites played Mangotsfield Under-11 Girls at the Baileys Court cricket ground. The last time the two sides met, Mangotsfield won the game 3-0 and this time round Bradley Stoke were able to reverse the score and win 3-0 themselves.
The game started brightly and both teams were able to work the width well and create some really good chances. It was not long before Bradley Stoke took the lead through Katie Jones and then doubled the lead minutes later through Emily Holbrooke.
At this point Bradley Stoke were playing really positively, there was lots of encouragement from the side lines and before half time they found themselves 3-0 up which made the second half a lot easier for the side who reached top gear before half time.
There were no goals in the second half, although the team created more chances than they did in the first half and Laura Hewlett was having trouble finishing when she joined the game and played up front.
The BSYFC U10 Boys were playing on the other pitch at the Baileys Court – also against Mangotsfield. They too showed a good team performance as they won the first game 4-1 and the second game 6-1. Goal scorers from the first game were Tom Chambers, Tom McMahon (2) and Tom Betts. Goal scorers from the second game were Dan Moore (3), Sophie Molyneux, Ben Gay and Masimo De Leec.
After the game, manager Paul Chambers said he was “really impressed” with how the team played.

Basketball: Flyers U16s win close encounter with Torbay
On Saturday afternoon I was in search of some indoor sports and found that the Bristol Academy Flyers U16 team were playing.
They had a game against the Torbay Tigers which was closer than anticipated.
There were lots of time outs taken in the first and second quarter, but despite both coaches getting very frustrated at their players at the end of the first quarter, Bristol only had a one point advantage as the score finished 13-12.
In the second quarter, there were even more timeouts and the teams were getting quite frustrated as there were many chances that could have gone in and affected the overall score at the end of the game. The score at half time was 22-24 in favour of the Tigers.
Early in the third quarter, Bristol had a player injured and he had to go to hospital. But the remainder of that quarter was still really close and when it came to a close the teams were 32 a piece and heading into the final quarter.
During the final quarter, Bristol ran away with the scoring as they looked like the more promising team and were making some really good transition offence moves.
At the end of the game, Bristol came out on top as the final score was:
