On Saturday, Bradley Stoke Town FC’s First Team had to face the Miners from Bedminster, who hadn’t won a game all season. The final score ended 9-3 in favour of Bradley Stoke.
Brad Clarke got the ball rolling for Bradley Stoke when he got on the end of a cross. As he towered over the opposing player he was able to head the ball past the keeper. Shad Esimeng then got the second for them when Brad Clarke put in a pass. He got onto the ball that came over the top to put it in on the half volley. The same then happened again when Esimeng got his second goal of the game, Lukas Entoundi then got his first goal when he hit home after getting on the end of a through ball and pestering the defence.
The Miners however were able to get a goal in the first half as BSTFC’s defence was caught napping when the ball was played across. The ball was not cleared and John Reed was able to strike home for the visitors’ first goal.
Shad Esimeng then scored a first half hat-trick when Adam Sykes produced an amazing cross from the right hand side of the pitch to Esimeng, who volleyed home.
Bradley Stoke were then awarded a soft penalty taken by Matt Hull, who was able to successfully smash the ball into the top right hand corner.
It was, however, the visitors who got the last goal of the half when the ball was smashed towards goal and determinedly headed in by Acreman.
An action packed first half with plenty of goals! Bradley Stoke however had the advantage as they led 6-2 at the interval.
In the second half, much of the same, Bradley Stoke dominating most of the play and most of the possession. This was shown when Ben Osbourne was able to head home from the near post in what was his first headed goal since the cup final. He gave Bradley Stoke their seventh goal.
John Reed was able to get his second goal of the game when, again, the Bradley Stoke defence failed to clear the ball. He was found in acres of space and was able to slot home past replacement keeper Nathan Corney. Miners may well have had another but a flying save from Corney kept it out.
When Lukas Entoundi returned to the action in the second half he was able to score with just his fifth or sixth touch of the ball when he went round the defenders and forced the ball home. He then scored an even better goal just minutes later when he smashed the ball through the crowd of people, it struck the post and went in, a fantastic goal.
Connor’s verdict: Overall a somewhat one-sided game of football from which Bradley Stoke earned a well-deserved three points.

Sunday morning, saw an under-10 girls game between Bradley Stoke and AEK Boco Blue.
The game took place at Christ Church Primary School in Hanham and boy was it a tense affair!
When the game started, both teams came out racing! Boco didn’t want to end their unbeaten run. Bradley Stoke had other ideas. Kayleigh Jennings obviously has been on fabulous form being their top scorer.
Bradley Stoke didn’t have to wait long before they took the lead, just four minutes, and it was Kayleigh Jennings again who was able to give the visitors the lead. This was when a ball was not cleared by the Boco defence and she was able to smash the ball into the bottom corner to give Bradley Stoke the lead. An excellent team goal and finished off brilliantly by Jennings.
In the first half, Bradley Stoke looked to be the team that were playing the better football, after the goal they moved slightly more defensive but still had chances through great runs down the wing by Paige Fowler and Naomi Adams. This looked to pay off as when half time arrived Bradley Stoke had the advantage as they were 1-0 up!
In the second half Boco threw everything they had at BSYFC. Some excellent defensive and midfield play from Daisy Ackerman, Millie Everleigh, Emily Hulbert and Leah Powell kept Boco at bay but this left Olivia Hood isolated up front. A special mention needs to go to ‘man of the match’ Lydia Tang, who played her part with some outstanding saves in the Bradley Stoke goal.
Despite all the defensive play, Boco’s pressure finally played off when a pass through to a lonely striker was slotted home. This saw disappointment on all the Bradley Stoke players’ faces but both sides never gave up looking for the winner but despite all the good football being played the game ended 1-1.
This meant Bradley stoke were the first team in the league to pick up a point from AEK Boco blue so a massive well done to the U10 girls!
