Junior netballers quick off the mark for Sport Relief

Bradley Stoke Netball Club Juniors - Sport Relief Mile

Members of the Junior Division of Bradley Stoke Netball Club (BSNC) were first off the mark in this year’s round of local Sport Relief events when they took part in a Sport Relief Mile at their training session last night.

Around 25 juniors, some wearing fancy dress, took in seven laps of the Jubilee Centre field to complete the charity challenge.

This was the first fundraising event by the Juniors and it saw them following in the footsteps of the Seniors, who have raised money for several charities through team and individual events, including the St Peter’s Hospice Midnight Walk, the Bradley Stoke 10K, the Bristol 10K/Half Marathon and the Three Peaks Challenge.

The Junior Division was established in August 2011 to help promote the sport amongst girls aged 11-15 years at a club level. It has 22 regular members who train outdoors (in all weathers!) at the Jubilee Centre from 5:30pm to 7pm every Wednesday.

Four qualified coaches and some of the Senior team members volunteer their time to assist in developing netball skills, match play ability and improving the general health and well being of the younger members.

Next month will see the club’s Head Coach Helen Newman continue the fundraising theme when she makes a sky-dive in aid of Parkinson’s UK. Anyone interested in sponsoring Helen can do so via her JustGiving webpage.

Bradley Stoke Netball Club was last year awarded England Netball’s Bronze CAPS Clubmark, in recognition of their good quality netball provision within the local community. The club is currently working towards achieving the Gold CAPS standard.
