Students at Bradley Stoke Community School (BSCS) are celebrating their achievements in A-level and vocational qualifications following the publication of assessment results earlier today (Thursday 15th August 2024).
A press release put out by the school describes the results as “outstanding” and reports that 22 percent of all A-level grades awarded were at A*-A, and 50 percent in the range A*-B.
The BSCS A*-A figure is below this year’s national average for England, which Ofqual says has come in at 27.6 percent.
A spokesperson for the school said:
“The students worked extremely hard as a cohort, which has paid off in their results, leading to an increase in A*-A and A*-B compared to last year. The average grade per entry is at a B- this year.”
“As always, students have gained fantastic opportunities at top Russell Group universities and higher/degree apprenticeships, including AWE – Nuclear Security Technologies, Ministry of Defence and KPMG.”
Headteacher Sophie Francis said:
“We are extremely proud of the year group and their achievements. Students’ focus, resilience and determination means they are now able to go on to pursue their ambitions in a wide range of settings. I would like to take this opportunity to formally acknowledge the incredible efforts students have made across their studies and congratulate them on their success. It is also important to recognise the hard work and commitment of staff at BSCS and across the Olympus collaborative Post-16 provision, who have supported our young people to help them fulfil their potential and also to thank families and the wider Bradley Stoke community for the support provided. We wish our Year 13s every success and look forward to hearing of their further successes and achievements in the future.”
Assistant headteacher and head of Post-16, Sadie McCombe, added:
“These are fantastic results for our students and have come as a direct result of the relentless commitment and effort that the students and staff have put in over the past two years. I am so pleased that their efforts have been recognised. All of these students have bright futures ahead of them and I wish them the best of luck.”
