A field of 498 competitors took part in this year’s Bradley Stoke 10k Run held on Sunday 11th June 2023 as part of the annual Community Festival.
The runners had to contend with humid conditions following some welcome overnight rain – the first of any significance for over a month – and an air temperature of around 20 degrees.
Winning times on the multi-terrain route along the pavements and tracks of Bradley Stoke were slightly below those recorded last year, perhaps reflecting the testing conditions.
Victory in the men’s race went to Bradley Cox, in a time of 35:49, just three seconds ahead of Alex Hamblin (35:52), the pair having pulled well clear of third-placed Warren Sweet (37:04).
First home in the women’s race, and eighth overall, was Caroline McAleese in a time of 39:30. She was followed by youngster Freya Bradley (40:07) in second, with 2011 & 2014 women’s race-winner Jessie Sanzo (40:11) in third.
The Bradley Stoke 10k Run is organised by local ladies-only running club Sole Sisters, which caters for all abilities, from beginner through to experienced runner. The club holds regular club runs from a variety of local venues and puts on a six-week beginners’ course three times a year.
