A number of bus services that cover Bradley Stoke and neighbouring areas will see changes from Sunday 2nd April 2023, with some being improved while others are having their routes trimmed or being transferred to a different operator.
Funding from the West of England Combined Authority (Weca) is helping to provide increased frequency on First’s popular T1 service, while at the same time some under-used services such as Stagecoach’s 10 & 11 are having their routes shortened and will no longer pass through Bradley Stoke.
Service T1
Thornbury to Bristol city centre via Bradley Stoke and Harry Stoke.
As a result of funding provided by the Weca and North Somerset Council’s successful Bus Service Improvement Plan award, the frequencies on this service will be improved. During Monday – Friday daytimes, buses will run every 20 minutes (currently half-hourly). The Monday – Saturday evening service will increase from hourly to half-hourly.
The service will also be extended to once again serve The Centre in Bristol city centre, rather than terminating at Bristol Bus Station. However, it is important to note that buses will take the direct route along The Haymarket and not pass the Bristol Royal Infirmary as they did prior to the last route change made in October 2022.

Editor’s note: The T1 service is favoured over the M1 MetroBus for journeys between Bradley Stoke and Bristol city centre as it achieves shorter journey times by joining the M32 at Junction 1 rather than going into the UWE Frenchay campus and joining the M32 at Stapleton.
Service M1 MetroBus
Cribbs Causeway to Hengrove via Bradley Stoke, UWE and Bristol city centre.
Additional early morning journeys will operate between UWE Frenchay and Cribbs Causeway to provide arrival times at Cribbs Causeway before 0600.
There will be very minor changes to the rest of timetable at peak times.

Service M4 MetroBus
Cribbs Causeway to Bristol city centre via Bristol Parkway and UWE.
Additional early morning services will operate between UWE Frenchay and Cribbs Causeway to provide arrival times at Cribbs Causeway before 0600.
There are no other changes to the timetable.

Service Y6
Chipping Sodbury to Bristol city centre via Bristol Parkway Station and Southmead Hospital.
This will operate to a significantly revised timetable in an effort to improve punctuality.
The route has been amended at Southmead Hospital to run in both directions via Monks Park Avenue rather than Dorian Way between the Hospital and Gloucester Road.

Services 10 & 11
* No longer serving Bradley Stoke *
Changes to the routes of Stagecoach services 10 and 11 mean they will no longer pass through Bradley Stoke, resulting in a loss of direct connections to Southmead Hospital, Avonmouth and Thornbury.
Service 10 will principally run between Avonmouth, Lawrence Weston and Southmead Hospital, with just a few journeys extending to Bristol Parkway, while service 11 will run between Avonmouth, Shirehampton and Southmead Hospital.
? 10 & 11: New Timetable from 2nd April 2023 [PDF]
Editor’s note: First’s T1 service (see above) offers an alternative option for travel to and from Thornbury, albeit from stops on Bradley Stoke Way rather than Brook Way. Those wishing to travel to Southmead Hospital are advised to use a journey planner, such as the Travelwest Journey Planner, to find possible options.
Service 12
Severn Beach to Bristol Parkway via Cribbs Causeway, Stoke Lodge and Little Stoke.
This service will have a revised timetable with minor tweaks throughout. The frequency will remain the same.

Service 963
This term-time only service, which provides a link from Patchway, Bradley Stoke and Stoke Gifford to and from Winterbourne Academy, will be operated by Transpora Bus rather than Stagecoach West.
