A new Starbucks store, operated by regional licensee Cobra Coffee, will be opening in Bradley Stoke tomorrow (Wednesday 14th December 2022), creating 17 new jobs in the local community.

To celebrate the opening, the store will be offering 50 lucky customers complimentary reusable cups every day for the first week.

This will be the sixth Starbucks store in and around Bristol operated by Cobra Coffee, which is owned by Southern Co-op.

Customers are invited to enjoy the Holiday menu including the new Praline Cookie Hot Chocolate, or try Starbucks new Holiday food items, including the Pigs under Blanket Roll and Toffee Nut Muffin. Starbucks UK proudly serves a broad range of dairy alternative options, including oat, soya, almond and coconut – all available at no extra charge.

Bradley Stoke store manager, Simone Guerreiro, said:

“I joined Cobra Coffee two-and-a-half years ago as a supervisor and worked my way up becoming an assistant manager and now store manager. We are excited to open our new store in Bradley Stoke and look forward to welcoming the local community.”

The new store, based at the town’s Willow Brook shopping centre, will offer Too Good To Go from 18th December – a leading surplus food app connecting customers to restaurants and stores that have unsold food.

“There has been a lot of people looking forward to the opening of this new Starbucks store which will bring a new flavour to shopping at Willow Brook. The regional licensee operating this branch has a great team of people who have worked incredibly hard to get to this point and I’m looking forward to trying the festive range of food and drink.”

The drive-through store has a contemporary design, with a selection of indoor and outdoor seating, offering customers the opportunity to enjoy a handcrafted cup of coffee and relax with free wi-fi.

Project timeline

Plans for the Starbucks restaurant, along with the neighbouring McDonald’s outlet, were first revealed more than four years ago in February 2018. Both units were granted planning permission on appeal in January 2020, after South Gloucestershire Council had twice rejected the application.

Work at the site finally began in January 2022, when it was stated that both restaurants could be open by August. The steel framework for the Starbucks building was in place by early April, but progress slowed after that.

The McDonald’s outlet finally began trading on Wednesday 14th September 2022, but it has taken a further three months for the Starbucks store to open its doors. During this period, Cobra Coffee would only say that it had “a few elements to finalise” and that it was “working hard to make this happen as soon as possible”.

  1. Starbucks is a welcome addition to the Willow Brook Centre! It was a good visit – a little untidy, but I think they will get to grips with that soon. Recommended.
