Robyn Hannan, a post-16 student at Bradley Stoke Community School (BSCS) and Chloe Price, a former student at the school, both work for TK Maxx at Cribbs Causeway and are currently fundraising for Cancer Research UK to help save the lives of young children.
The two A-level students have decided to reach out further to gain support for their campaign, bringing their fundraising into the school. The campaign gives the idea of a ‘bag for life’ a much deeper meaning.
Students and staff at the school are being encouraged to fill bin liners or ordinary supermarket carrier bags with any old or unwanted clothes, books, toys, etc and bring them into school. The donations will then be collected and donated to Cancer Research UK by the TK Maxx team.
Each bag collected is worth £30 for the charity and will help towards the goal of providing the chance for a better life for many young children suffering from cancer.
The TK Maxx Cribbs Causeway team has a target of 360 bags and workers at the store hope they will more than exceed this with the help of the BSCS students and staff. Robyn and Chloe are certainly doing their bit for the charity, rallying round their families, friends, neighbours and now fellow students in order to make the campaign a huge success. They will also be wearing t-shirts advertising the campaign and riding an exercise bike in the TK Maxx store as ways of gaining donations of both money and bags!
After all, if it’s not been worn for a year do you really need it? And what better way to get rid of all your unwanted or old things than to donate it to an extremely worthwhile cause which helps people who will be forever grateful.
Members of the public can help by bagging up any of the following items and dropping them off at TK Maxx, Centaurus Retail Park, Cribbs Causeway, Bristol BS34 5TS by 31st March.
- Clothes: Dresses, tops, skirts, coats, trousers, jeans, suits
- Accessories: Jewellery, belts, bags, ties
- Shoes
- CDs, DVDs, Books
- Homeware: Linens, cushions, ornaments

The local store has also managed to secure a link with Bristol Rovers and are asking all supporters to take one item of clothing to the home game against Morecambe on Saturday 29th March. There will be TK Maxx staff at the gates to collect your items.
